Do not test our resolve, Israel warns Iran

Jerusalem Post reports, Netanyahu brandished a piece of the Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle that Israel downed a week ago after it entered Israel's airspace and warned Iran "not to test Israel's resolve".

Netanyahu said there were "striking similarities" between the Iran leadership and Nazi Germany, saying that Tehran wants to destroy Israel.

Netanyahu produced what he alleged to be a piece of the Iranian drone shot down in Israel airspace last week in an episode that sparked global concern as the prospect of war breaking out between Israel and Iranian forces in Syria and its proxy, Hezbollah, in Lebanon, ballooned.

Holding the wreckage, Netanyahu asked Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was sitting in the crowd: "Do you recognize it? You should, it's yours". He said it as a "cartoonish circus, which does not even deserve a response".

"For years, Israel has been attacking Syria, Lebanon, nearly with impunity, and for once, after 30-some years, the Syrians were able to down one of its planes - and so the myth of the invincibility of Israel, of the Israeli military, has crumbled".

Reuters reported that Israel has accused Tehran of seeking a permanent military foothold in Syria, where Iranian-backed forces have supported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the ongoing civil war there.

Iranian aggression "is in my judgment the greatest threat to our world", Netanyahu said Sunday, urging leaders not to repeat the mistakes of Munich negotiators who did not Adolf Hitler in 1938 for fear of provoking a war.

Zarif faulted Israel for treating aggression like a standard policy, noting how often Israeli warplanes violate the airspace of Lebanon and Syria.

Israel responded to that incident by bombing Iranian military installations in Syria.

The gun is the ballistic missiles that the Iranians are developing with no repercussions from the nuclear deal or UN Security Council, the prime minister said.

Netanyahu has used other high-profile platforms - including the US Congress and United Nations General Assembly - to highlight the threat if Iran develops nuclear weapons. "We will attack not only Iran's proxies, but also the country itself".

"The U.S. and its local clients in our region are suffering from the consequences of their own wrong choices", said Zarif.

"The time is now, we think, to act against Iran", McMaster said. "Or are you going to put it out and use the intervening time to prevent it from ever catching fire again?"

"I believe it is absolutely critical for Europe, for the world, to make sure we hold on to this agreement, because to go backwards, we know what the world looks like without the Iran nuclear agreement".
