Arab foreign ministers adopted on Thursday a draft resolution submitted by the State of Palestine, which includes 19 items to confront the USA position on Jerusalem, including the establishment of a multilateral worldwide mechanism under the umbrella of the United Nations to sponsor the peace process.

Israel claims all of Jerusalem as its united capital, while the Palestinians see the eastern sector as the capital of their future state.

Supporting Jerusalem requires helping its people, he added, urging further assistance to the Palestinians.

The meeting resulted in a resolution calling for Arab action to counter the United States administration's decision and welcoming the decision of the UN General Assembly in its 10th special emergency session under the slogan of "Unity for Peace", issued on December 21, 2017, reaffirming rejection of any resolution recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupying forces, and the transfer of diplomatic missions to it.

Greenblatt rejected claims that the Trump administration was frustrating development because of Trump's threat to cut funding to the Palestinians over their lack of cooperation in peace talks. Ambassador Al-Otaibi said there were no objections among members - including the United States - to the proposed agenda. "As such, no one should be lecturing us about our financial assistance". Greenblatt thanked Hamdallah for attending, although it did not constitute a reentry of the Palestinians into consultations about a peace plan.
