Garrison Keillor Fired After Sexual Assault Allegations

Keillor told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he was sacked because of "a story that I think is more interesting and more complicated than the version MPR heard".

Mr. Keillor retired previous year from his longtime radio show.

This story is developing.

He didn't give details of the allegation. "Eleven years later, a talk show host in L.A., she goes public, and there is talk of resignation". MPR confirmed Keillor's termination to the AP, writing in a statement that it is, "terminating its contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies after recently learning of allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him".

DC Archdiocese Sues Over Rejected Transit Christmas Ad
The ads were rejected by Metro for being religious in nature. "Jesus is the flawless gift", the information on the website says. Chieko Noguchi, the spokesperson of the church said the metro advertisement was particularly made to avoid such a scenario.

Earlier this week, Keillor wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post in which he described Minnesota Senator Al Franken's alleged behavior of sexual harassment as "low comedy", and made an argument that any talk of his resigning from his position was "pure absurdity" that should not be taken seriously.

The station said it did not know of any allegations involving any other staff. In an email to the Star Tribune, he says he meant to pat a woman on her back when she told him she was unhappy.

MPR President Jon McTaggart said: "Garrison Keillor has been an important part of the growth and success of MPR, and all of us in the MPR community are saddened by these circumstances". In recent weeks, National Public Radio has also fired or suspended male executives who've been accused of harassment.

"She recoiled. I apologised". "If I had a dollar for every woman who asked to take a selfie with me and who slipped an arm around me and let it drift down below the beltline, I'd have at least a hundred dollars", he wrote. "We were friends. We continued to be friendly right up until her lawyer called".

Harvey Weinstein resigns from Directors Guild of America
She says that Weinstein's brother Bob was complicit in the attack, and that they used company resources to accomplish it. The Weinstein Company did not reply to a request for comment from HuffPost.

"So this is poetic irony of a high order".

The allegations "relate to Mr. Keillor's conduct while he was responsible for the production of 'A Prairie Home Companion, ' " said MPR, an NPR member network.

Keillor's ouster is the latest fallout in a series of sexual misconduct allegations against powerful men that began with the highly public accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in October.

In a statement to the Associated Press, he said he didn't want to drag MPR into a scandal: "I'm 75 and don't have any interest in arguing about this". In light of that news, it's only appropriate to find that the last time Keillor traveled to Charleston a year ago, he recorded his adventures in flawless character for his recurring Washington Post column.
