Just after 9 p.m. CT on Wednesday NBC got a notification from AT&T that the issue had been resolved and service should be back to normal.

"If you've experienced an issue when making wireless calls, please restart your device, this might be required multiple times- that should resolve the issue", AT&T said on its Twitter page.

Thousands of customers were reporting that their AT&T cellphone service was out. They say you may have to restart your phone several times to resolve the issue.
