Macklemore to donate proceeds from Same Love to marriage equality campaign

AMERICAN rapper Macklemore cancelled his scheduled media conference yesterday ahead of his controversial performance at the NRL grand final tomorrow.

"I like Tony Abbott, I always have like him but on matters of politics we are on polar opposites", he said.

Conservative politicians and pundits are outraged that Macklemore plans to sing his pro-marriage equality anthem, Save Love, at Sunday's event.

On Wednesday, Abbott tweeted a petition from retired NRL player Tony Wall saying, "footy fans shouldn't be subjected to a politicized grand final".

"So I need to figure out how to do that and what that looks like, but that is something I am going to do".

"I was saying on the auto ride over here, I haven't figured it out yet, but I was saying in the vehicle ride over that I want to donate my portion of the proceeds of Same Love that I get off of that record here in Australia, to voting yes", he told Channel 9.

During those minutes, just as Macklemore will have followed the script of his song, Tony Abbott can read a prepared statement, backing up all the claims he has made about countries which have gay marriage.
