Ikea purchases gig-economy startup TaskRabbit

Swedish build-it-yourself furniture giant Ikea has finally solved its customers biggest complaint - it just bought TaskRabbit, a company that finds people to.build your Ikea furniture for you. Ikea and TaskRabbit are teaming up so customers do not have to deal with long task of assembling the furniture.

As well as London, TaskRabbit now operates in 40 cities around the US. Now, following the lead of Best Buy, it will try to compete with Amazon by offering an added, decidedly not electronic service: human labor that can be dispatched to customers' homes to help with assembly. Using the phone's camera, a customer can scan a room and then place Ikea furniture virtually to see how it looks (see below).

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. After the acquisition, TaskRabbit will continue to operate as an independent company. "Entering the on-demand, sharing economy enables us to support that", explained Jesper Brodin, president and CEO of IKEA Group.

Former military man named as new leader of British UKIP
The result came after the party unveiled a new logo - which cost around £2,000 to develop - replacing the pound sign with a lion. On his personal website, Bolton says he will "resume Nigel Farage's legacy by restoring UKIP's relevance and authority".

"We need to develop the business faster and in a more flexible way". They announced on Thursday that they are buying United States start-up firm TaskRabbit, an online marketplace website and app that matches various kinds of labor - delivery, furniture assembly, cleaning and general handyman work - to local demand.

Ikea is making moves so you don't have to assemble a sofa or bookcase yourself. "And department store operator Kohl's will soon offer services at about a dozen stores through a deal with online retailer Amazon, which would let Kohl's shoppers hire someone to install products at their homes".

"Once completed", IKEA's statement says, "the acquisition would enable IKEA Group to provide consumers and IKEA customers with access to the services provided by the TaskRabbit Taskers".
