Three active hurricanes at once: Katia forms in the Gulf

06 de septiembre de 2017, 10:21Havana, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) After forming as tropical storms, Jose and Katia, in the waters of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic hurricane season has reached today the number of eleven tropical storms.

Tropical Storms Jose and Katia are both now hurricanes. The hurricane is centered about 105 miles east of Tampico, Mexico.

It said a hurricane watch was in effect for the coast of the Mexican state of Veracruz where heavy rainfall could be expected. This storm is likely to become a hurricane by the end of the week when it will probably threaten northern Mexico. The NHC said the storm is expected to stay off the coast of Mexico through Friday morning, making landfall sometime overnight.

Meanwhile, Jose is swirling in the Atlantic, located about 1,040 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.
