Trump Concedes US 'May Fund' Border Wall But Mexico Will 'Ultimately' Pay

Earlier in the day, President Trump took to his Twitter handle and said that Mexico being the highest crime Nations in the world, U.S. must have the wall.

"It may be through reimbursement", he said.

Trump on Sunday made a similar claim in a tweet insisting Mexico would pay for the wall "through reimbursement/other". Also tweeting on Sunday was a perhaps inappropriately excited Donald Trump.

The statement was a direct response to a sweeping series of tweets by President Donald Trump on August 27, in which he touched on NAFTA, the border wall and the Missouri Senate campaign amid updates on tropical storm Harvey off the southeast coast of Texas.

India look to seal series
For Sri Lanka , spinner Akila Dananjaya scalped two wickets while pacers Lasith Malinga and Vishwa Fernando took one wicket each. Whereas the Lankans would want to keep the series alive by registering their first win in the ongoing India's tour.

Still, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders later told reporters that threat doesn't necessarily mean Mexico won't pay for the barrier.

'The government of Mexico takes this opportunity to express its full solidarity with the people and government of the United States for the damages caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and reports that we have offered the U.S. government all the help and cooperation that can be provided by the different Mexican governmental agencies to deal with the impacts of this natural disaster, as good neighbors should always do in times of difficulty'.

Trump's tweet prompted a strong response from Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It said the crime is a "shared problem" for both countries and is caused in part by US' demand for Mexican narcotics. The statement said Mexico was "serious and constructive" in the talks and sought a winning result for all involved, but that in any case it "will not negotiate NAFTA nor any other aspect of the bilateral relationship through social media or the media".

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has repeatedly said the country would not be footing the bill for the wall.

"The ministry's statement ended with a show of sympathy towards Texas' battle with Hurricane Harvey and an offer to provide assistance with disaster relief".
