Oscar Pistorius taken to hospital, reports say chest pains

The former blade-runner turned convicted murderer was rushed from his prison cell to a South African hospital after experiencing what was reported to be chest pains.

The former athlete has been behind bars for a year and is now serving a six-year sentence for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013.

"This morning he went for a medical examination and he was scheduled to return back (to jail), but he will now be kept overnight for observation", Logan Maistry, spokesman for the department of correctional services, told AFP today.

Britain's Prince Philip to retire Wednesday after 65 years of service
As the Queen's husband of almost 70 years, Prince Philip is the longest-serving British consort (companion to the sovereign). Despite officially retiring, it was revealed Philip "may still attend events alongside The Queen from time to time".

Pistorius is doing six years for killing partner Reeva Steenkamp.

Family spokesman Johan van Wyk said Pistorius was "OK".

Initial reports were that staff at the Atteridgeville Prison in South Africa thought the disabled lag had suffered a heart attack, reports The Citizen.

Maistry added that the department would not release details on Pistorius's medical condition. A year ago he was taken to the hospital for treatment to cuts on his wrists, which prison authorities said he sustained after falling in his cell. He argued during the trial her death was a case of mistaken identity, claiming he shot her through the bathroom door after becoming fearful an intruder was inside the home.

But his conviction was upgraded to murder - and he was caged for six years.

Pistorius faces having his sentence increased to 15 years if prosecutors are successful.

Nicolas Maduro Declared that the American Sanctions are Illegal
The opposition and U.S. moves are to force Maduro to give up his plan to have a 545-member "Constituent Assembly" elected on Sunday.

But the Supreme Court of Appeals found him guilty and overturned the original ruling stating that it was "fundamentally flawed" because Pistorius should have known that his act could have been fatal.
