There were roughly 24,000 MS-13 members in Central America in 2012, according to an analysis by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

Thomas Homan, acting director of the Justice Department's Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said 3,311 gang members have been arrested in the United States this year, including 100 in the New York City area.

Trump is set to talk about taking down the notorious MS-13 gang and push forward his immigration agenda.

Trump has touted his administration's effort to crack down on MS-13 in recent days as he deals with an uncertain effort to repeal Obamacare in Congress and a shake-up of his communications staff.
