LaVar Ball comes clean to Magic Johnson about his master plan

The struggling Los Angeles Lakers have signed second overall draft pick Lonzo Ball to a multi-million dollar, four-year contract, said the National Basketball Association side yesterday morning (Singapore time).

Yet from there, their paths diverged.

The Lakers lost, 96-93, in overtime to the Los Angeles Clippers Summer League roster, but in front of a almost sold-out crowd at Thomas & Mack Center, Ball flashed both promising signs of his point guard potential as well as red flags with an awkward jumper that needs tweaking for the pro game.

Ball hadn't played a competitive game in four months, but wasn't about to use rust as an excuse.

"I just missed shots (and) we lost the game", he said. "I need to be better".

Scattered PM showers and storms
As the next system moves through, a few showers and storms will be possible, especially afternoon and early evening. The end result will not only be dreary weather with occasional rain, but also milder weather with highs in the 70s.

He also had five assists, four rebounds, two steals, one block, and three turnovers in 33 minutes of play.

The night started out well for Ball, as less than 30 second into the game, he threw a gorgeous lob from well beyond the 3-point arc to Brandon Ingram for an alley-oop dunk.

By the end of the fourth quarter and overtime, he was launching threes from several feet beyond the three-point line, not a swoosh to be found, only iron and groans from the rabid Summer League crowd. "I'm pretty sure he's pretty disappointed". At halftime, LaVar made his way down by the court and high-fived fans and took selfies. You don't want to give Lonzo the best player in the world and don't get no championship?

They finished 41 games back of first-placed Golden State Warriors in the Pacific Division.

Indeed, Thomas & Mack Center was electric, particularly after Ball and Ingram's game-opening highlight.

Los Angeles Lakers' Lonzo Ball passes around Los Angeles Clippers' Kendall Marshall, right, during the second half of an NBA summer league basketball game, Friday, July 7, 2017, in Las Vegas. In addition, he also sees his son being the best rookie and winning hardware to go with that claim.

However, Ingram missed the potential game victor and came up limp with a cramp after the final buzzer.

The atmosphere in Las Vegas was electric, as fans donned jerseys of Ball, Ingram, Kobe Bryant and Jerry West. Lakers president Magic Johnson, GM Rob Pelinka and coach Luke Walton were all in attendance.

Nonetheless, it was an impressive night for last year's No. 2 pick, who downplayed his success after a season of matching up against the likes of LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard. "I always play to win, and I didn't get the job done".
