According to the Parker County Sheriff's Office, when asked how long the children might have been exposed to the high temperatures inside the vehicle, Randolph responded immediately: "No more than an hour".

Police were called to Randolph's home in near Lake Weatherford, which is just west of Fort Worth, on May 26. The temperature was close to 96 Fahrenheit (36 Celsius) and emergency personnel that Randolph had called pronounced the children dead at the scene, the court filing said.

Randolph initially said she was inside her home folding laundry and watching TV while her kids played in an enclosed back porch that was visible from the living room.

Police said Randolph changed her story several times before admitting fault in her the kids' tragic deaths.

Randolph found her two children, a 16-month-old boy named Cavanaugh Ramirez and 2-year-old Juliet Ramirez, playing inside the vehicle.

The two young children - a 2-year-old girl and a 16-month-old boy - were found dead in Parker County, Texas on May 26. She allegedly admitted to police that she went back inside her residence and smoked marijuana before falling asleep.

Randolph told investigators that shortly after noon on the day of the deaths, she found the kids inside the vehicle and, using profanity, ordered the girl out. When she realized they had both died, she phoned the police.
