Trump randomly blurts out 'I'm not under investigation' in conversations with aides

President Trump said, quote, "I am being investigated for firing the Federal Bureau of Investigation director by the man who told me to fire the Federal Bureau of Investigation director - exclamation point - witch hunt". Now three more of those administration players, reportedly asked by Trump to intervene with Comey over the FBI investigation of departed National Security Adviser Mike Flynn - Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, head of the National Security Agency Admiral Mike Rogers and Rogers' recently departed deputy - are scheduled to be interviewed by Mueller, according to a number of media reports.

Trump's young presidency has been battered by allegations - under investigation both by Congress and the FBI - that Russian Federation interfered to sway the 2016 election in his favour, in possible collusion with Trump's campaign team.

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director (James Comey) by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt", the President wrote in his tweet.

Painter's comments come as Trump and his allies cast doubt on Mueller's ability to conduct a fair investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Tensions are building inside the Justice Department as Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein contemplates whether he will become a witness in the ongoing investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 USA elections.

Warriors say no decision has been made on White House visit
Curry and the Warriors did visit the White House the last time they won the championship, in 2015, but that was to visit the former president, Barack Obama .

A Trump confidant said this week the President had considered firing Mr Mueller.

Mr Pence's office confirmed he had retained Richard Cullen, a former Virginia attorney general and United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to assist "in responding to inquiries" from Mr Mueller.

Friday's tweets have taken other aides across the White House by surprise.

A Justice Department spokesman said: "If there comes a point when he needs to recuse, he will". Comey later revealed that he orchestrated a disclosure of details about conversations with Trump to prompt the appointment of a special counsel.

This week's set of controversies, including reports that President Trump was considering firing special counsel Robert Mueller, has led to an increase (again) in speculation that it won't be long until Trump is either forced to resign or undergo impeachment proceedings that will surely see his ouster from the Oval Office.

White House: Trump won't sack special counsel Robert Mueller
Investigators are also seeking to learn whether any Trump campaign associates colluded with Russian officials in the meddling. According to one source, Mueller sees the obstruction claims as more than just "he said, he said" between Trump and Comey.

According to a new poll from the Associated Press and the University of Chicago's NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, 61 percent of Americans surveyed believe Trump has tried to impede or obstruct the FBI's investigation into his campaign, while just 37 percent said they believe Trump hasn't tried to impede or obstruct the investigation.

Mr Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Mr Trump fired him to undermine the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Russian Federation probe.

Trump also attacked the media Friday morning.

Moscow has denied any interference.

Trump, who hired his own lawyer last month regarding the probe, kept up his criticism of the investigation.

Pentagon to send 4000 additional US forces to Afghanistan, report says
Three U.S. soldiers were killed and another was wounded in eastern Afghanistan this weekend in an attack claimed by the Taliban. As a candidate, Trump deplored the waste of America's wars and suggested he would try to end them.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that Mueller is investigating possible obstruction of justice by Trump.
