Flight diverted when lithium battery catches fire onboard

Authorities say a JetBlue flight from NY to San Francisco landed in MI after a lithium battery in a passenger's laptop apparently started a fire.

The plane, carrying 158 people, landed safely at about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 30.

However, airport authorities report that the fire onboard the aircraft had been extinguished by the time the plane landed.
